How to download Google Pay

This guide shows you how to download Google Pay and complete the initial setup so you can start making payments with your mobile device. 

Download Google Pay

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your device.
  2. Tap the Search tab.
  3. Search for Google Pay and select the app.
  4. Tap Install.
  5. Authenticate the download using your passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID.
  6. Once the app has finished downloading, tap Open.

Set up Google Pay

  1. Select English as your language.
  2. Tap the arrow in the top-right corner to continue.
  3. Enter your mobile number.
  4. Select your Google account, then tap Continue.
    • If you have a work Google account, we recommend using that.
  5. Enter the 6-digit SMS verification code sent to your phone.
  6. Choose your preferred security option: Screen Lock or Google PIN.
  7. Tap Continue.

Enable NFC

  1. Open your phone’s Settings.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Ensure NFC is switched On.
