Mapping your chart of accounts in Weel ensures every expense category is linked to the right accounting code, so your transactions export cleanly into your accounting software.
Before You Start
- You'll need Admin or Accountant access to complete these steps.
- Before mapping, you must have either integrated Weel with your accounting software (e.g. Xero, NetSuite, MYOB, QuickBooks) or uploaded your chart of accounts via a CSV file. See How to Upload Your Chart of Accounts from a CSV if you haven't done this yet.
Steps
Map default expense categories
- Click Settings
- Click Chart of Accounts
- For each expense category, select the corresponding Accounting Code from the drop-down list
- Toggle off any default categories that are not relevant to your business
- Click Save
Create custom categories (optional)
If your business uses a more detailed chart of accounts, you can create your own custom expense categories.
- Click the toggle to turn on Custom Categories
- Enter a unique Category Name — keep names simple and clear so staff can make the right choice when categorising their spend
- Select the corresponding Accounting Code from the drop-down list
- Click Save
What Happens Next
Once your categories are mapped, Weel will automatically apply the correct accounting codes when transactions are exported to your accounting software. You can return to Settings → Chart of Accounts at any time to update mappings, add new custom categories, or disable categories that are no longer in use.
