Upload your chart of accounts from a CSV so your accounts appear in the Select Accounting code drop-down when coding transactions.
Before you start
- CSV upload only works if your business runs a manual chart of accounts, not connected to an accounting integration (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Business Central). This setup is common and fully supported, not a fallback. If you're connected to one of those integrations, manage your chart of accounts through it instead; CSV upload isn't available in that case, and this is enforced account-wide, not just hidden in the interface.
- You need Admin or Accountant access to upload or modify the chart of accounts.
- Your CSV must match the template exactly: two columns only,
Account_IDandAccount_Name.
To upload your chart of accounts:
- Click Settings, then select the Chart of Accounts tab.
- Click Import Accounts in the top right. If you've uploaded a chart of accounts here before, this button reads Re-import Accounts instead and opens the same screen.
- In the Import Chart of Accounts panel, click Download our CSV template here to get the standard format.
- Replace the example rows with your own
Account_IDandAccount_Namevalues, keep the two-column format, and save the file as a CSV. -
Drag and drop your CSV into the upload area, or click choose a file to select it. The upload starts automatically; there's no separate submit step.
- If the file isn't a CSV or doesn't match the template, you'll see "File must be a CSV and match our template". Fix the file and try again.
- Once you see "File uploaded successfully," click Finish to close the panel. Your chart of accounts has already uploaded by this point; Finish just closes the screen.
What happens next
Your accounts now appear in the Select Accounting code drop-down when mapping categories or coding transactions, so double-check that your Account IDs and Account Names match your accounting system to avoid mismatches. To update your chart of accounts later, repeat these steps; the button will read Re-import Accounts.
