When AI auto-extract GST is enabled on your account, Weel AI automatically extracts GST amounts from receipts uploaded to card expenses.
As soon as a receipt is added (email‑in, mobile photo, or file upload), Weel AI uses OCR to read the document, extracts the GST, and populates the GST field. It also detects GST‑free purchases and GST treatment for foreign/overseas transactions and applies the relevant GST amount.
You’ll see the suggested GST amount on each transaction in both the web and mobile apps.
How do I enable/disable AI GST extraction?
AI GST extracted is enabled by default for all accounts. To disable or re-enable it:
- Open AI and automation settings on the Weel web app
- Enable or disable Auto-extract GST under the Weel AI section
- If enabled, Weel AI will start automatically extracting GST for all new card transactions made whenever a receipt file is uploaded
Can I update the GST field once it has been populated by AI?
Yes, this amount can be updated at any time.
What happens if I don't upload a receipt?
AI GST extraction will only work if if a receipt file is uploaded. If a receipt file is not uploaded the GST amount will automatically be calculated as 1/11 of the total amount (or $0 if a foreign transaction).
