Deleting a budget or subscription in Weel archives it without erasing its history. This means that you will always be able to view the transactions that have been made with Weel on the Transactions page even if a budget or a subscription has been deleted.
Every transaction made against it stays visible on your Transactions page, complete with its category, GST/tax details, and amount, and it continues to sync to your accounting integration and exports. This way, your records stay complete and accurate long after a budget or subscription is gone.
How It Works
- Full transaction history: Every transaction made against a deleted budget or subscription stays on the Transactions page, so nothing disappears from your records.
- Original details retained: Category, GST/tax, and amount details are stored with the transaction itself, so they stay exactly as they were.
- Budget or subscription name kept: Each transaction still shows the name of the deleted budget or subscription, so you can tell where it came from.
- Accounting sync continues: Deleted-budget transactions still sync to your accounting integration and appear in exports, keeping your books complete.
- Approver visibility exception: If you could only see a transaction because you approved that specific budget, you may lose visibility once it's deleted.
- Full-visibility roles unaffected: Owners, Admins, Accountants, and the person who made the transaction can always see it, regardless of budget status.
Good to know
- Can't reassign to a deleted budget: Deleted budgets don't appear in the reassignment dropdown, so you can't move a transaction there. This doesn't affect viewing history that's already recorded.
