When Weel AI suggests a Category or Description for a card expense, you can always correct it. Weel AI remembers each correction and uses it to improve future suggestions for that same merchant, so accuracy keeps improving the more you use it. Auto-extract GST works differently and isn't covered by this behaviour.
How It Works
- Category corrections stick immediately. Setting or changing a transaction's category teaches Weel that merchant-to-category pairing, and it's applied automatically next time.
- Smart category suggestions. If auto-categorisation is on and no exact match exists yet, Weel AI reviews your team's recent history for that merchant and budget.
- Description suggestions follow the same pattern. Weel AI reviews recent descriptions for the same merchant and budget, so your corrections shape what it suggests next.
- GST extraction works differently. Auto-extract GST re-reads each receipt with OCR and fixed rules, so it doesn't remember your corrections. See How does AI GST extraction work? (Beta).
To change a suggested category or description
- Go to Expenses in the Weel mobile app, or the Transactions page in the web app.
- Open the transaction.
- Update the Category or Description field.
- Select Update, or Submit once every field is complete.
See How does AI auto-categorisation work? (Beta) and How does AI auto-complete descriptions work? to turn these features on and for full detail on each.
Good to know
- If Weel AI's GST figure is consistently wrong for a merchant, contact Weel Support. Correcting a transaction's GST amount doesn't change future suggestions for that merchant.
