Switch from one connected accounting integration to another without losing your exported transaction history, then start exporting new transactions automatically once you're connected.
Before you start
- Xero, MYOB AccountRight, and QuickBooks are available to every business. NetSuite needs an Enterprise plan (or the paid add-on) and an Australian-registered business; Business Central needs an Enterprise plan and is currently in Beta, rolling out gradually. If your business isn't eligible for one of these yet, you won't see a working Connect option for it.
- For NetSuite specifically, eligibility doesn't guarantee an active Connect button: you might see a "Try free for 30 days" button instead, and whether it's clickable depends on your business's current rollout (see Step 4).
- You can only have one accounting integration connected at a time. Weel disables the Connect button for every other integration while one is already connected.
Steps
-
Check your export status in Weel
- Open the Transactions page.
-
Check the Status column for every transaction.
- Connected to Xero: look for Unreconciled or Reconciled. Either means the expense has exported successfully.
- Connected to MYOB, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Business Central: look for Export Complete instead.
- If a transaction shows Export Error or Pending Export, hover over the tag and follow the pop-up instructions to resolve or retry the export.
- To find every transaction that still needs exporting: click Filter, click Status, then select Pending Export or Export Error.
-
Reconcile any unreconciled transactions in your current accounting software.
- How you do this differs by accounting software. Historical Weel transactions won't export into your new accounting software after you switch. Only transactions made after the new integration is connected will export automatically going forward.
-
Disconnect your current accounting software.
- Click the Cog icon in the top right-hand corner of Weel.
- Click Settings.
- Click Integrations.
- Click Disconnect next to your currently connected integration, then confirm in the pop-up.
Disconnecting is immediate and self-service: you don't need to contact Weel support to confirm it's gone through. Once it's done, the integration disappears from the Integrations page and its button reverts to Connect. If something goes wrong, Weel shows an on-screen alert rather than failing silently; that's the point where it's worth contacting support.
- Convert your books to your new provider outside Weel.
-
Connect your new accounting software.
- Click the Cog icon in the top right-hand corner of Weel.
- Click Settings.
- Click Integrations.
-
Click Connect next to your new accounting software.
- Connecting to Xero: you'll see a consent screen first, every time. Read it, then continue to Xero's authorisation flow.
- Connecting to MYOB: uncheck "This user will sign on with a my.MYOB account (Recommended)" in MYOB AccountRight first. If it's ticked, the connection fails with no specific error message; an MYOB admin has to untick it before you connect, and Weel can't fix this from its side.
- Connecting to NetSuite: the card only shows if your business is registered in Australia. If the button reads "Try free for 30 days" instead of Connect (inside an Enterprise-plan upsell tooltip), your business doesn't have the NetSuite entitlement yet. Whether that button is clickable depends on your business's rollout: if it's clickable, click it to register interest and Weel's team will follow up; if it's greyed out, there's no further action available in Weel right now, though you can still reach out to your Weel contact. Either way, this isn't a bug.
- Connecting to Business Central: the Connect option only shows once your business is on the Enterprise plan and included in the current Beta rollout.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to finish authorising the connection.
- Your chart of accounts imports into Weel and needs to be re-mapped.
