Every Weel budget resets on either a recurring schedule or a one-time basis, and only recurring budgets top up automatically, by design. Knowing which type your budget uses explains why a limit might not have refreshed. If you need funds sooner than a scheduled reset, or a one-time budget runs out, you can request more at any time.
How It Works
- Every budget is set to reset on a recurring schedule, or to one-time, which never resets on its own. You or your Admin choose this when the budget is set up, and can change it later from the budget's settings.
- Recurring schedules include daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, annually, and separate AU (July) and NZ (April) financial year options. See the exact reset day for each schedule.
- Once a one-time budget's limit is spent, it stays at zero until an Admin, Owner, or approver adds funds manually. This is expected behaviour, not an error.
- Whether a budget is recurring or one-time, Admins, Owners, and approvers can top it up any time from the web app, using Request Limit Update (also shown as One-off Limit Adjustment). See how to do a one-off top-up.
- Any budget member can also request extra funds from the Weel mobile app at any time, under Requests > Budget Limit Update, which goes to your approvers. See how to request a top-up.
- On a recurring budget, you may also see the choice to make an increase permanent, raising the ongoing limit itself rather than just the current period. This is rolling out gradually; where it isn't shown, every request is treated as one-off.
Good to know
- Scheduled resets run through an automated check that executes once an hour, so a top-up can land any time within the hour after midnight Sydney time, not at the exact stroke of midnight.
- A budget only resets once its scheduled day arrives (for example, weekly budgets reset on Monday, monthly budgets on the 1st) and only once it's actually started. If your recurring budget still hasn't topped up on its scheduled date, contact Weel Support.
- If Rollover Unused Funds to the Next Period is turned on, unspent funds carry over on top of the new limit, so the available amount can look higher than the set limit (or exactly the limit, if rollover is off).
