Categorisation rules for subscription cards let you set a default category so Weel automatically codes future subscription transactions for you, saving time and keeping expenses consistent. If you’re new to subscriptions, start with What are subscriptions? to understand how subscription cards work in Weel.
Before you start
You’ll need a role that can edit subscriptions (for example, Admin, Owner, or Accountant).
If you don’t see any categories in the dropdown, confirm your chart of accounts / categories are set up for the business.
Steps
To create a categorisation rule for new subscriptions:
Go to Subscriptions.
Click Create New Subscription.
In What category should transactions be coded as?, select the category you want to default this subscription to.
Complete the remaining fields and click Create.
To edit a categorisation rule for an existing subscription:
Go to Subscriptions.
Open the relevant subscription.
Click Edit (top right).
In What category should transactions be coded as?, choose the new default category.
Click Update.
What happens next?
The category you selected will auto-apply to future expenses matched to this subscription. You can still change the category on any individual transaction if needed.
You can manage or update this rule anytime by reopening the subscription and clicking Edit.
If categorisation looks wrong, check whether other categorisation settings (like merchant rules or AI categorisation) might also be influencing the final category.
