Weel's Xero integration uses Xero's Bank Feed to export your Weel transactions into Xero automatically. Transactions arrive as two streams, transaction data and expense data, which you reconcile against each other in Xero. This makes reconciliation more accurate, keeps working even before you've mapped your Chart of Accounts, and matches the process you already know from other bank feeds.
Staff members don't need to do anything differently. They keep making payments and completing expense reports as usual; this happens entirely behind the scenes.
How It Works
- Two Data Streams: Unchangeable transaction data (merchant, amount, date) and coded expense data (GST, employee name, description, accounting code, tracking category) export separately, then reconcile in Xero.
- Automatic Setup: Every verified Xero integration gets a Bank Feed connection automatically, so there's nothing extra to switch on.
- Chart of Accounts Mapping: Bank Feed statement lines export even before you map your Chart of Accounts, but expense data won't export until you do.
- Transaction Data Timing: Transaction data exports the day after a transaction clears, in a daily job that starts around 5am Sydney time.
- Expense Data Timing: Expense data exports once it's coded, cleared (or refunded), and its approval workflow is complete, so a pending approval delays export.
- Reconciling in Xero: Match each Bank Feed statement line to its coded expense entry in the Reconcile tab; using Account Transactions instead creates duplicate entries.
