If Weel's asked you for more information about your business, like how you use your account, where you transact, or your online presence, that's Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD): a routine compliance check under our partner Nium, and it isn't a sign anything's wrong. This overview covers what it involves, what to have ready, and how to respond.
How It Works
- What it is: Nium, our licensed partner, must keep verifying businesses under Australia's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws, not just once at sign-up. When it needs more detail, it issues a Request for Information (RFI): an enhanced review beyond our standard checks.
- Why you're being asked now: Reviews happen periodically based on your risk rating, and can also follow changes in your ownership, activity, or transaction patterns.
- What it covers: Your account's intended use, the countries you transact with, your business's online presence, and any outstanding business or stakeholder documents. Exactly what applies depends on your specific request.
- How you respond: If you see "We need a few more details," select Provide details, upload what's requested and/or complete flagged stakeholder details, tick the consent checkbox, and select Confirm and submit to get a submission confirmation. If you see "We're taking a closer look" instead, there's no form to fill in: reply directly when Weel's team contacts you (for example, by email), and that's how your response reaches Nium.
Good to know
- What happens next: Once you've responded, your business goes back into review.
- If you don't respond: Your account can eventually be paused for compliance reasons until the request is resolved. See What happens when my Business account or Employee account is paused?.
