Closing out your financial year in Weel is a short sequence of exports and checks, not one big task. This page brings together Weel's export and reporting articles in the order you'd use them for an EOFY close. You'll know what to check before 30 June, what to hand your auditor, and everything here works on every plan, including Basic.
How it works
- Chase outstanding receipts and incomplete expenses. See How to Find Transactions Missing a Category or Custom Field to filter for exactly what's missing.
- Check for locked-period issues if you're on Xero. Weel can auto-shift Invoices and Reimbursements out of a locked period.
- Export your tax invoices and receipts for the year. See How to export tax invoices and receipts from Weel (web app only).
- Export your full-year statement: Date-only keeps balance and totals, other filters don't. See How to download a financial statement or transaction report for a specific period.
- Send your auditor the same statement. See How to get an official transaction statement for your auditor; no separate file needed.
- Know what your auditor's likely to ask for: mostly the exports above, plus Accounts Payable and Reimbursements reports on Premium or Enterprise.
Good to know
- Locked-period automation (Settings > AI and automations > Locked accounting periods) only applies to Xero, and only shifts Invoices and Reimbursements still in Coding Required or Waiting for Approval. Already-approved items and card transactions in a locked period need manual handling: unlock the period in Xero, or enter the transaction directly. Other accounting platforms don't have an equivalent yet.
- If you're on Premium or higher with Card Blocking enabled, chasing overdue expenses is already partly automatic.
- Do your chasing and locked-period checks in the weeks before 30 June, then wait a few business days into the new financial year before exporting. Pending transactions take 3 to 5 business days to clear, so exporting on 30 June itself misses your last few days.
