This guide walks you through fixing the most common Weel mobile app problems, from crashes and missing cards to camera and notification issues.
Steps
Try these first, in order:
- Force close and reopen the app. The app only refreshes some of its data (like your card list) when it starts up or comes back to the foreground, not continuously while it's running. Closing and reopening it is often enough to pick up a change that hasn't shown up yet.
- Check for an app update. If your version is too far behind, Weel blocks the app entirely with an "App update required" screen and an Update Now button. This isn't a bug: it's a deliberate floor to keep everyone on a supported build. Update from the App Store or Google Play, then reopen the app.
- Restart your device.
- Check your internet connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
If none of these help, find your specific issue below.
Supported devices
Weel's mobile app requires iOS 15.1 or later, or Android 14 or later (minimum SDK 34). If your device is below either of these, the app won't run properly. Android 13 reached end-of-life in March 2026, which is why Android 14 is the current floor. See How to check if your device supports the Weel mobile app to check your device's OS version. If your device can't be updated, you can still use every Weel feature from the web app at app.letsweel.com instead.
Signing in problems
If you're stuck at sign-in (a rejected password, a missing reset email, an SMS or authenticator code that won't arrive or won't be accepted, a lost 2FA device, or your company's SSO), contact Weel Support. These issues have their own troubleshooting steps outside this article.
Card not appearing after activation
If you've just activated a physical card, or been issued a new one, and it isn't showing up or still shows the old status:
- Force close and reopen the app first. The card list only refreshes when the app starts up, comes back to the foreground, or a push notification arrives while it's open. Activating a card doesn't itself trigger a refresh, so if the app has stayed open the whole time, it's working from a stale copy.
- Confirm you're in the right business, if you belong to more than one. See "Wrong business showing" below.
- Confirm you're a member of a budget. Cards only appear for budgets you belong to or approve. If your admin hasn't added you to one yet, there's nothing to show regardless of activation.
- If the card still doesn't appear after a fresh restart, re-check the steps in How to activate your physical card. If you were issued a replacement physical card and also use a digital wallet, see How to Update Your Mobile Wallet After You're Issued a Physical Card. Your old virtual card is retired and needs removing from your wallet separately.
Camera and receipt capture failures
- Camera won't open, or nothing happens after you tap "Take Photo": this usually means Weel doesn't have camera permission on your device. Check your phone's Settings app and confirm Weel has camera access. If you'd rather not grant it, use Choose from Photo Album instead. It's a separate option you need to pick yourself, not something the app switches to automatically.
- "10MB limit exceeded": Weel accepts receipts and invoices up to 10MB each, up to 10 files at a time. If a photo is too large, retake it at a lower resolution or choose a smaller file.
- Wrong file type: the mobile app accepts JPEG, PNG, PDF, GIF, TIFF, and HEIC (the standard iPhone photo format). If you see an "Invalid file type" message, the file isn't one of these.
- Receipt details aren't extracted automatically: Weel reads the amount, supplier, and GST off your receipt automatically. If it can't, you'll see "We weren't able to extract any invoice details." This doesn't mean anything is wrong with your photo, just that this particular receipt couldn't be read. Complete the expense fields manually, or use Skip invoice extraction if it's taking too long, and submit as normal.
- Nothing seems to happen after uploading: if you don't see a confirmation and the receipt doesn't appear on your expense, try again. A failed upload doesn't always show an error message. If it keeps failing, contact Support (see below).
Push notifications not arriving
If you're not getting any push notifications at all:
- On Android, Weel asks for notification permission the first time you open the app. If you dismissed or denied it, Android won't ask again automatically. You'll need to turn it on yourself in your phone's Settings app, under Apps > Weel > Notifications. Weel doesn't have an in-app switch for this; it has to be done from your device settings.
- On iOS, the permission prompt appears the first time the app registers for notifications. If you denied it, go to your device's Settings app, find Weel, and enable Notifications there.
- After reinstalling the app, notifications pick back up automatically the next time you log in. You don't need to do anything extra, as long as your device-level notification permission (above) is still granted.
Wrong business showing
If you belong to more than one business in Weel and the app has opened into the wrong one, switch it from within the app: tap Menu, then Change Business, then select the business you want. This works differently from how the web app switches businesses, so following web instructions here won't help. See How to change businesses in the mobile app for the full steps.
Reinstalling: what you lose and what you don't
If force closing, restarting, and updating haven't fixed it, reinstalling the app is a reasonable next step. Here's what to expect.
You'll need to log in again. This happens on every reinstall, regardless of how you normally sign in.
What's lost, and comes back on its own:
- Your last-selected business: you'll land back on your default business and need to switch again if you work across more than one.
- The onboarding wizard (including prompts like adding a card to your digital wallet) may reappear. This is expected, not a fault.
- Face ID / Touch ID for approving sensitive actions will need to be turned back on from inside the app; the security key it relies on lives only on your device and doesn't survive a reinstall.
What's genuinely lost and won't come back: anything you were part-way through filling in but hadn't saved yet. An unfinished reimbursement claim in particular only exists on your screen until you submit it. If you're in the middle of one, finish and submit it before you reinstall.
What isn't affected at all: your card, its PIN, your transaction history, submitted expenses and approvals, and your budgets. All of that lives on Weel's servers, not on your device.
If it's still not working
Contact Weel Support with as much detail as you can:
- What you were doing when it happened, and what you expected to happen instead
- A screenshot or screen recording, if possible
- Your device model and OS version
- The Weel app version. Find this under Menu > Profile, near the bottom of the screen
You can reach Support from inside the app (Menu > Help Centre, which also lets you browse articles or start a new request), or by email at help@letsweel.com.
