When a merchant refunds a Weel purchase, the funds return to your overall Account Balance rather than the original Budget or card. If the purchase came from a Budget, its spending capacity is restored automatically, even though the cash sits in the Account Balance. Refunds typically take 3–5 business days to appear.
How It Works
- Where refunds land: Funds return to your business's overall Account Balance, not back to the original Budget or card.
- Budget capacity restored: If the original purchase came from a Budget, its spending capacity frees up automatically, even though the cash isn't credited back to the Budget itself.
- Tracked as a new transaction: Refunds appear as a new, separate transaction, dated to when you receive it (not the original purchase date), and linked to the original for matching.
- Clearly tagged: You'll see it labelled as a refund in the transaction details, so it's never confused with the original purchase.
- Typical timing: Refunds usually take 3–5 business days, occasionally up to 10, since Weel depends on the merchant and their bank to process it.
Good to know
- If your refund hasn't appeared within 10 business days, contact Weel support and we'll look into it with you.
- A merchant refund is different from disputing a transaction. If a merchant hasn't refunded you and you believe a charge is unauthorised, fraudulent, or unresolved, you can dispute it instead by contacting help@letsweel.com. See How do I dispute a transaction? for how that works. Disputes run through Weel's card provider rather than the merchant, and typically take 45–90 days, occasionally longer, much slower than a standard refund.
