Turn on a direct debit so your Weel balance tops up automatically when it drops low, as explained in An Overview of Direct Debit in Weel.
Steps
- Go to Settings > Account Balance.
- Find the Direct Debit section and turn it on using the toggle.
-
Enter your Top up amount, the amount pulled from your bank account into your Weel balance each time a top-up runs.
- A good starting point is the total of everything you expect to spend across your budgets and subscriptions over the next month, plus a small buffer for anything unexpected. For example, a business expecting to spend $8,000 over the next month would typically set a $10,000 top-up amount, giving itself a $2,000 buffer.
- Enter an amount for "When my account balance drops to," the balance level that triggers a top-up. Weel pulls your top-up amount the moment your balance reaches this figure.
- Click Save.
-
Enter the bank account to be direct debited: your bank's BSB, account number, and account name, agree to the terms, and click Continue.
- The account name must exactly match your Weel account's registered business name. Transfers from an account under a different name will be rejected, as required for AML/CTF compliance.
- Verify the funding account. Weel sends a 1-cent credit to that account within 1-2 business days with a 5-digit code in the transaction description. Enter the code and click Continue to verify.
What happens next
Allow up to an hour for a direct debit to trigger, and 3-5 business days for the funds to arrive, so factor this window into your top-up amount and threshold. Weel may review first-time setups, changed bank details, or unusually large top-up amounts before processing.
You'll get a notification when a direct debit triggers, and another if it's dishonoured, for example if your bank declines it due to insufficient funds. A dishonoured debit stays active and is retried automatically the next time your balance drops to your threshold; it isn't paused by a single failed attempt. Weel can still pause it separately if a fraud check flags the account name or amount as suspicious, or if our team pauses it manually.
