Deposits into your Weel Account Balance and Direct Debits out of it each follow their own timing, set by the banking network your bank uses. NPP-enabled transfers land near-instantly, while BECS transfers and Direct Debits follow BECS's own settlement windows. Understanding these timeframes keeps your Account Balance topped up and avoids delays when a debit is in flight.
How It Works
- NPP-enabled bank transfers usually arrive near-instantly, though occasional delays can occur due to your bank's own processing times.
- If your bank isn't NPP-enabled, a standard BECS transfer made before 4:00pm (AEST for Australia, NZST for New Zealand) usually settles the same day.
- Your first transfer to a new Weel account can take up to 7 business days, even via NPP. Later transfers are much quicker.
- Once your minimum balance threshold is hit, it can take up to an hour for your Direct Debit to trigger.
- Debited funds move through BECS and typically take 3-5 business days to reach your Account Balance, so build this into your minimum balance.
Good to know
- RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) deposits aren't supported. Use a standard NPP or BECS transfer instead.
- If you accidentally send a deposit via RTGS, contact Weel Support. RTGS funds don't auto-return, so recovery needs a bank statement and proof of remittance from you, and can take up to 10 business days.
