How to add an authenticator app as a verification method

Add an authenticator app as an extra sign-in method alongside SMS, so you always have another way to verify it's you.

Before you start

  • You'll need an authenticator app installed on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, or Authy. See How do I install an authenticator app if you haven't installed one yet.

Steps

Web app

  1. Open the Weel web app.
  2. Click the Settings cog icon in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Click Account settings from the dropdown menu.
  4. On the Profile page, under Security, click Add authenticator app.
  5. Open your preferred authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, or Authy) and scan the QR code on screen.
    • Or click Use setup key and paste the key into your authenticator app instead.
  6. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app into the pop-up.
  7. Click Submit.

Mobile app

  1. Open the Weel mobile app.
  2. Tap the Menu button in the top left-hand corner.
  3. Select Security.
  4. Select Two-step authentication.
  5. An in-app browser window opens. If prompted, log in to Weel.
  6. On the Profile screen, tap Add authenticator app.
  7. Tap Use setup key and paste the key into your authenticator app.
    • There's no QR code option on mobile. You'd be scanning the same screen you're looking at, so setup goes straight to the key.
  8. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app into the pop-up.
  9. Tap Submit.

What happens next

Your authenticator app becomes the default method you're prompted for at sign-in and other verification steps. If you'd rather use an SMS code on a specific occasion, select Try another way on the verification screen and choose SMS verification.
