Freeze a staff member's card from the Weel web app to instantly stop transactions if it's lost, stolen, or no longer needed.
Before you start
- Freezing your own card needs no special permission.
- Viewing Admin view and every card issued to your business needs the View all budgets permission. Owners and Admins have this by default; Accountants have read-only access; Team Members don't.
- Freezing or unfreezing someone else's card also needs the Create and edit budgets permission. Without it, the Freeze card toggle is greyed out.
Steps
- Open the Weel web app.
-
Click Cards in the left sidebar.
- The sidebar is collapsed by default. Hover over it to expand, or pin it open.
- In the view switcher near the top of the page, select Admin view (not Individual view).
- Choose Grouped by people or Grouped by budget to organise the card list.
- Click the chevron next to the staff member's name to expand their cards.
- Click the ellipsis (three-dot) button in the action column next to the card you want to freeze.
-
In the menu, turn on the Freeze card toggle.
- The label changes to Card frozen once it's active. Turn the toggle off again to unfreeze the card.
What happens next
Once frozen, all transactions on the card, physical or virtual, are declined at the network level until you unfreeze it.
