How to Issue a Physical Card

Issue a team member a physical Weel card, delivered to their address, ready to use online immediately and in-store once activated. See Understanding the Difference Between Virtual and Physical Cards.

Before you start

  • The Budgets: Create permission (Account Owners and Admins have this by default; it can also be granted to a custom role).
  • The team member already has the Cards payment type assigned (this needs the separate People permission, granted via User Management).
  • A delivery address in Australia. Physical cards can't be ordered on New Zealand accounts yet.

Steps

  1. Open the Cards page (admin view) and click Issue new card.
  2. Under "How would you like to issue cards?", select Physical card – single issue, then click Issue physical card.
    • Issuing to several team members at once? Select Physical card – bulk issue instead to upload a CSV (currently in Beta). See How to bulk order physical cards.
  3. Choose the team member to issue the card to (this can be you or someone else), then click Continue. Only team members with the Cards payment type, and no existing physical card, appear as eligible.
  4. Fill in the card and delivery details:
    • Cardholder name is locked and matches the team member's account name.
    • Business name to print on the card defaults to your business's trading (or registered) name and can be edited, up to 20 characters.
    • Delivery address must be a valid Australian address.
    • Physical card fee, $15 + GST ($16.50 AUD), is shown here. Lost, replacement, and expired cards are charged at the same rate.
    • Tick I agree to confirm the fee will be debited from your account balance. If your balance is too low, you'll need to transfer in funds before you can continue.
  5. Click Issue card.

What happens next

The team member gets an email and push notification once the card is issued. The physical card ships via AusPost and arrives within 7 to 10 business days; because a new card number is generated, they'll need to remove any previous card from their mobile wallet and add the new one, then activate the physical card in the Weel mobile app before using it in-store.
