Withdraw cash at ATMs using your physical Weel card, once your business has requested and been approved for cash withdrawals.
Before you start
- You'll need admin access to request cash withdrawals for your business.
- The business will need to be verified and approved by the Weel Team after the business has requested access.
Steps
Request access for your business
Cash withdrawals are turned off by default because ATM access carries extra regulatory and fraud-prevention requirements. To turn them on:
- Go to Cards in the web app.
- Open the Actions menu on the relevant physical card.
- Select Manage cash withdrawals.
- Select Request cash withdrawals.
A member of the Weel team will contact you to process your request. Approval is a manual step, not an automatic one, so plan for a short delay before the feature becomes available.
Manage cash withdrawals for an approved card
Once your business is approved, each physical card can be enabled individually, with its own per-withdrawal limit.
- Go to Cards in the web app.
- Open the Actions menu on the relevant physical card.
- Select Manage cash withdrawals.
- Toggle Enable cash withdrawals for this card on.
- Set a Per-withdrawal limit (see limits below).
- Click Save.
Where cash withdrawals work
- Cash withdrawals work at ATMs that accept Visa, domestically and internationally.
- When the ATM asks for an account type, choose Credit if it's offered. If it isn't, choose Default account or Savings.
- Cash withdrawals are only available at ATMs. You can't withdraw cash at the point of sale (for example, at Coles or Woolworths) with a Weel card.
Limits, fees, and budgets
- Per-withdrawal limit: Up to $1,500, in your business's home currency (AUD for Australian businesses, NZD for New Zealand businesses). This is a flat cap that doesn't change based on currency.
- Daily limit: Up to $1,500 AUD total per day, with a maximum of five ATM withdrawals per card per day.
- Budget limits still apply: A withdrawal is declined if it would take you over your remaining budget, even if it's below the per-withdrawal limit.
- Weel's ATM fee (Australian businesses): $3 AUD per withdrawal at an ATM in Australia, and $5 AUD per withdrawal at an ATM outside Australia.
- Weel's ATM fee (New Zealand businesses): $3 NZD per withdrawal at an ATM in New Zealand, and $5 NZD per withdrawal at an ATM outside New Zealand.
- ATM operator fees: The ATM operator may also charge its own fee. Leave enough room in your per-withdrawal limit to cover both.
