Set a PIN for your Weel card in the mobile app so you're ready when a terminal asks for one; see Understanding when you'll need a PIN for card payments.
Before you start
- You'll need the Weel mobile app, since PIN management isn't available in the Weel web app.
Steps
- Open the Weel mobile app.
- Tap the cog icon in the top right corner of your card screen to open your card settings.
- Tap Manage card PIN.
-
Enter a 4-digit PIN.
- This is the PIN you'll use at the terminal when prompted.
-
Confirm your new PIN by entering the same 4-digit PIN again.
- Your PIN is active immediately, with no extra verification step.
What happens next
This PIN also applies to the virtual card in your phone's wallet (Apple Pay or Google Pay) since they're the same underlying card, and works the same way whether your business is registered in Australia or New Zealand.
You may also be asked for this PIN for reasons beyond a specific purchase amount:
- Contactless taps over about $100: Same threshold in AU and NZ.
- Chip-and-insert payments: A PIN is asked for as standard, regardless of amount.
- Several taps in a row: Some terminals track cumulative contactless taps and prompt once a running total is reached.
It's worth setting yours up in advance rather than waiting until you're prompted at checkout.
