Your Weel virtual card works just like a regular tap-and-pay card in-store. Using Apple Pay or Google Pay, you can make contactless payments at any merchant that accepts Visa. If you're new to Weel cards, start with Understanding Card Types in Weel - Primary vs Secondary to learn how your card works before getting started.
Before you start
- You'll need the Weel mobile app installed on your device (available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
- Your Weel card must be added to Apple Wallet or Google Pay. If you haven't done this yet, see How to add your card to Apple Wallet and Google Pay
- Your selected budget must have sufficient available funds
Weel cards are linked to specific budgets. Always check that your budget has enough funds before making a payment.
Steps:
Open the Weel app.
Go to the Cards tab and select the budget you want to spend from.
Verify that the balance is sufficient for your purchase.
Tip: If your budget is low, request a top-up and wait until the funds are available before attempting payment. You can learn more about requesting a top-up of funds here.
Steps
- Open the Weel mobile app.
- Open the Card tab.
- Swipe left or right to select the budget you want the payment to draw from. You can also tap the search icon to find a specific budget directly.
- Check the Available budget amount to confirm there are sufficient funds for your purchase.
- Tap the checkbox next to Use budget in Apple / Google Wallet to link that budget to your mobile wallet.
- Open Apple Pay or Google Pay on your device and select your Weel card.
Make a Payment by holding your phone close to the payment terminal.
Wait for the confirmation beep or notification that the payment is successful.
-
If prompted, authenticate using your fingerprint, face ID, or device passcode.
-
Note: A PIN may be required for purchases over $100. If you haven't set up a PIN yet, see How to create a PIN for in-store payments.

Tips for Smooth Payments:
Ensure NFC/contactless is enabled on your device.
Keep the screen awake while tapping.
Retry if the first attempt fails, after confirming the correct budget is selected.
Paying with a Physical Weel Card:
Tap, insert, or swipe your physical Weel Visa card at the terminal.
Select Credit/CR if the terminal asks for a transaction type.
Payment will be deducted from the linked budget, just like a virtual card.
Note: Physical cards behave like debit-style payments, spending directly from your Weel budget.
What happens next
The transaction will be processed against the selected budget and reflected in your available limit straight away. You can view the transaction in real-time under the Feed tab in the Weel mobile app.
If your payment is declined, check that the correct budget is linked, that sufficient funds are available, and that your card is active and unfrozen. For more help, see How to troubleshoot a declined Weel card payment.
