Replace a staff member's card from the Weel web app, checking Understanding Card Types in Weel: Primary vs Secondary first if you're unsure which type you're replacing.
Steps
- Open the Weel web app.
- In the left-hand navigation, click Cards.
- Make sure Admin view is active. If it isn't, open the dropdown next to Individual view and select Admin view.
- Switch between the Grouped by people and Grouped by budget tabs to view cards the way you prefer.
- Click the expand arrow next to the staff member whose card you want to replace.
- Click the action menu icon next to the card you want to replace.
- Click Issue replacement.
What happens next
Once you issue a replacement, the old card stops working straight away and the staff member gets a brand new card, not a reissued version of the old one. They'll see it in the Weel mobile app.
Primary Card:
- Only Primary Cards can be added to a mobile wallet.
- Secondary Budget Cards and Subscription Cards are online-only and can't be tapped in-store or added to a wallet. If the old Primary Card was in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, it stops working there and may show a "Contact card issuer" error.
- The staff member needs to add the new card to their mobile wallet to keep making in-store tap payments (see How to Update Your Mobile Wallet After You're Issued a Physical Card).
- Wallet payments work as soon as the new card is added, with no need to wait for a physical card to arrive or activate.
Secondary Budget Card or Subscription Card (used for a recurring charge):
- The card number has changed, so any merchant or vendor charging it automatically needs the new details, or the charge fails.
- Update this directly with the merchant or vendor. It's separate from Weel's Direct Debit feature, which funds your Weel account balance from your bank account and isn't linked to individual cards or budgets, so there's no Direct Debit setting inside Weel to change here.
